Community Connector Service
South Canterbury referral Includes Timaru, Waimate & Mckenzie Districts
Brenda Warren, Leana Edwards and Hāmi Goldsmith have been appointed as the Kaiwhakahononga Hapori (Community Connectors) for the South Canterbury region and is based at Te Aitarakihi Trust. Brenda’s role is to contact isolated whanau and connect them to social and community networks that they may not be aware are available to them for support.
The constant community engagement is aimed at building connections with many service organisations in and around the Timaru, Waimate and Mckenzie Districts of South Canterbury. As a Kaiwhakahononga Hapori she has good knowledge of the social, recreational and support options in each area.
The role’s aim is to link people into local community services; to help strengthen the links between social, recreational and support services; and to help build more connected communities and districts in South Canterbury.
